Salzburg’s Old City is listed among UNESCO’s World Cultural and Natural Heritage sites and is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. With a population of about 150,000, it is located right on the northern edge of the Alps and close to Germany’s border. The city centre reflects more than a thousand years of history and culture and as the City of Mozart; Salzburg is world renowned for its musical heritage. Innsbruck is the provincial capital of Tyrol. Its 110,000 residents make it the fifth largest city in Austria. Innsbruck has hosted the Winter Olympics in 1964 and 1976 as well as the World University Games in 2005, which helped it become a venue for many sporting opportunities, especially alpine sports, as it is located in the Alps and is surrounded by mountains. Several ski resorts are situated inside the city territory or within short distance. There are two universities and several colleges in Innsbruck, with over 25,000 students altogether, which makes the city’s nightlife very lively.

The city was founded at the legendary site of a dragon slaying, and there’s a statue of the dragon-The Lindwurm--in the city square. Health spas, a magnificent lake, Skiing and Baroque architecture are among the city’s attractions.
